Week 5 and 6 Homework: Accidents Can Happen

VU22603  Reading and Writing : Accident Report Forms

This week we looked at different types and accidents and injuries.
We filled in some simple report forms.

At the Bakery ...



Accident at the Bakery

I was at the bakery working when a customer came in and wanted a loaf of bread.
 I got a loaf and put it into the slicer. I put the bread in the wrong way so I tried to remove it. However,  I could not get it out and cut my fingers. My workmate gave me first aid and an ambulance was called.


At the Restaurant ...

Grammar : You will notice in the report that we use the PAST CONTINUOUS and the PAST SIMPLE together to describe actions that are related, close to one another in time, or when one action is interrupted by another. We also used the conjunctions WHEN and WHILE

eg. I was putting the bread into the slicer when it got stuck.

Vocabulary : Parts of the Body

We looked at some vocabulary to do with body parts (especially body parts that can get injured)

Do you remember these?

Grammar: Have / Get + Something + verb

eg. I'm getting my hair done tomorrow / I had my car serviced yesterday
